KRadio 4.0.1 released. Aside from quite some bug fixes and adjustments for recent libraries and kernels, KRadio 4.0.1 contain some important improvements collected over past year. The most visible change might be a significantly improved support for ALSA and sound systems that plug into ALSA, such as PulseAudio and an improved internet radio support. Furthermore, window sizes should be much more suitable for netbooks; recording file names are now highly configurable; and the system tray icon is much better configurable in terms of mouse click/wheel actions. KRadio 4.0.0 released. Finally, KRadio4 4.0.0 has been released! About half a year ago the porting of the original KDE3 application to KDE4 started. Now, about 6 months, 400 subversion repository commits and tons of fixed bugs later, KRadio4 is now ready for release.

KRadio4 brings some new features such as Internet Radio, RDS support, DBus interfacing and Keyboard Shortcuts. Furthermore, almost all issues known from the KDE3 release should be fixed in KRadio4. For details please have a look into the ChangeLog.

KRadio4 has been made possible last but not least due to the extreme patient debugging of many users, due to the continuous effort of translators with ever changing translation strings and due to support by many others.

Thanks a lot to everyone!

Source code and translation packages as well as binary packages for Debian/unstable and OpenSuSE11.1 (both 32 and 64 bit) can be downloaded from the KRadio homepage: http://kradio.sourceforge.net/download.html

If you are looking for KRadio4 binaries for Fedora, please have a look at atrpms.net.Paulo Roma Cavalcanti is so kind to maintain KRadio in Fedora: http://www.atrpms.net

Please test and give feedback about bugs but also success! Have fun with the new KRadio!

Finally, after some really busy time at work and shifting appartments, etc., I managed to spend some time of my vacations on kradio again. The result: KRadio Snapshot-2006-10-29, a new plugin for basic streaming support (currently only raw format, but hopefully easily extensible for internet radio) that now allows PVR radio cards to be controlled completely by kradio, including /dev/video24. Furthermore, some important bug fixes have been included, particularly one for the station editing configuration page and a fix for the high CPU load problem which was caused by broken LIRC pipes. For details about the changes please have a look into the ChangeLog file. Please be aware, that from this release on, kradio will only compile properly using unsermake.

KRadio Snapshot_2005_11_27 provides few small bugfixes for nerving bugs like the tooooo big configuration dialog and high memory consumption. I'm sorry for the long delay since the last releases, I'm currently very busy at work. Might be, that a few snapshots with very little changes will follow before the first 1.0rc release. For details have a look into the ChangeLog.
Please test and report errors!

Furthermore, kradio should now recognize the session end and power off / save the state properly. The Mute/ZeroVolume behaviour on power off is now configurable (some radio card's do not mute automatically, but not all users like muted/zeroed mixer channels ). For details have a look into the ChangeLog.
Please test and report errors!

kradio-1.0beta3 provides quite a bunch of bugfixes, with special respect to LIRC, ALSA, buffer handling in general as well as usability improvements during the first startup and two new features called "active playback" and pre-recording. For cards that don't use the line-in loop, active playback captures the sound from a special device which is played back on the sound card. With pre-recording, you no longer need worry about starting recording too late: The last <configurable> seconds before the decision are captured, too!
2005/08/13
kradio-1.0beta2 provides a new ALSA plugin, lots of fixes, with special respect to the makefile build system. Thanks a lot to Marcus Camen and Dirk Mueller.

Patch against xosview-1.8.2 that improves the cpu-meter. Timers for IO/Wait, HW-IRQs and SW-IRQs that are provided by linux 2.6.x are supported now. The disk-meter block size problem is adjusted for my personal configuration, here block sizes are 1k (ext3, linux 2.6.8.1).

Quick&Dirty Hack for xosview 1.8.0, this one should be able to run under linux-2.6.x (but only under 2.6.x, not 2.4.x or earlier, as I said: a dirty hack;). It fixes the hang caused by missing input.eof() conditions and displays CPU IO Wait time and disk stats correctly.
